Longtime MGA Committeeman Jim Tingley Passes Away

September 18, 2009 – Jim Tingley, a longtime committeeman for both the MGA and LIGA and past member of the MGA Executive Committee passed away on September 16, he was 90. Tingley, who was a 52-year member of Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., loved the game of golf and everything that went along with it. He was a five-time club champion at Nassau and more impressively, was the owner of 20 holes-in-one during his decades-long involvement with the game.

GREENWICH, Conn. (September 17, 2009) –  Wee Burn Country Club’s Jay Rice and Becky Montgelas teamed up to win their third MGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship at the Round Hill Club in Greenwich, Conn. Rice and Montgelas carded a three-under-par 68 to win by four strokes over Kile Keever and James Keever of Woodway Country Club.

September 10, 2009 - The United States Golf Association has announced a one-day liquidation sale of all remaining merchandise from the 109th U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage Black. The sale will take place at the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 11.
