Handicap Score Posting Season Ends for 2010

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 23, 2010) — The 2010 Met Area golf season is just about over and the October 27 handicap revision was the last official “active-season” revision for the year. It is important to know that scores made in the Met Area after October 26 should not be posted and will not be accepted for handicap purposes.  MGA handicapping is now in its inactive season until March 31, 2011. The first day for posting scores for 2011 will be April 1.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 15, 2010)- The Metropolitan Golf Association is pleased to announce the addition of the inaugural MGA Masters Tournament to the 2011 schedule, which will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Country Club of Fairfield in Fairfield, Conn. The 18-hole stroke play competition is the first new MGA championship in four years and will feature 96 players aged 65 years and older from across the Met Area who will compete on one of the most renowned courses in the section.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (November 14, 2010) – Two years after winning his first PGA Tour event, former Met Area resident Johnson Wagner showed plenty of fight in his effort to keep his PGA Tour card at the season-ending Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. The five-time MGA major champion tied for third in the tournament, shooting a final-round 67, and tied for third.

Herman and Bradley Earn 2011 PGA Tour Cards

November 1, 2010 - The hard work has paid off for Jim Herman and Keegan Bradley, who completed successful seasons on the Nationwide Tour to earn their PGA Tour cards for 2011. Herman and Bradley, both with Met Area ties, will be playing alongside Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson next year as they finished in the top 25 on the Nationwide Tour money list, automatically earning full PGA Tour status for next year.

MGA Mourns Passing of Sis Putman

November 30, 2009Mary Jane “Sis” Putman, a longtime scoreboard keeper for the MGA, died at her home in Mendham, N.J., on November 26 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Putman joined the MGA as a scorekeeper in 1984 and worked hundreds of tournaments throughout the Met Area.
