Met Area Juniors Sign with Top College Golf Programs
November 18, 2009 – Reflecting the extraordinary depth of golf talent in the Met Area, a number of high school seniors have taken the next step in their golfing careers by committing to play golf at the collegiate level. Headlining the 2010 class of young guns is 2009 MGA Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year Cameron Wilson, of Rowayton, Conn. In a ceremony at his current school, St. Luke’s, Wilson signed his national letter of intent to attend Stanford University next fall. Two-time Met Junior champion David Pastore of Greenwich, Conn., has committed to the University of Virginia and Mike Miller of Brewster, N.Y., will be a Nittany Lion at Penn State.
Miller joins 2008 Ike champion Kevin Foley and two-time Met Amateur champion Tommy McDonagh, both of whom currently play at Penn State. Foley graduates this spring while McDonagh still has another year of eligibility.
Other local signees include Sam Bernstein, the 2009 Met Open low amateur, who will attend Yale University, and Dillon Corbo of Montville, N.J., who committed to Rutgers. On the women’s side, Suzie Lee of East Northport, N.Y., will play for the University of South Carolina in the fall of 2010.
