(June 19, 2007) – Defending champion Roger Hoit has his sights set on becoming the first repeat Ike champion in seven years, but there are 107 other players, including three former champions, who will have different ideas for the 43-year-old Baltusrol member when the Ike Championship, presented by Canon, USA, begins on June 25 at Fenway Golf Club in Scarsdale, N.Y.

Els received the Gold Tee Award, the MGWA’s highest honor, the day after the U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., site of Els’ first U.S. Open title in 1994. (June 4, 2007) – The remnants of Tropical Storm Barry soaked the 57-player field during 36-hole U.S. Open sectional qualifying at Century Country Club, suspending play for nearly four hours and making it look increasingly likely that several players would have to return on Tuesday, June 5 to complete their second rounds.

LOCUST VALLEY, N.Y. (May 24, 2007) – On a bright sunny day at the Piping Rock Club, Jay Blumenfeld of Mountain Ridge CC carded an even-par 71 to win the 80th MGA Senior Amateur Championship. The setting, at one of the most prestigious clubs and enjoyable courses on Long Island, matched the high level of play. Doug Vergith of St. George’s G&CC, the 2004 Senior Amateur champion, had a second-round 74 to finish three strokes back.
