MGA to Allow Measuring Devices in Competition

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (March 5, 2008) - The Metropolitan Golf Association has elected to allow the use of electronic distance-measuring devices in its competitions for 2008. Players will be permitted to use measuring devices that provide information on distance only. The MGA is joined by the Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey State Golf Associations in adopting this Local Rule for selected events.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (March 5, 2008) – Junior golfers across the Met Area will benefit this season from a generous donation made by real estate developer Donald Trump. Mr. Trump has donated 30,000 golf balls to the Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation for use in its junior golf initiatives and The First Tee of Metropolitan New York.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 28th, 2008) - The MGA, along with hundreds of others representing the golf industry, will be at the Lower Hudson Valley Golf Show and the Long Island Golf Expo. Met area golfers will have the opportunity to visit travel booths as well as participate in numerous equipment and instruction activities sponsored by local businesses. The MGA will also conduct several Educational Seminars at each of the shows.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 4, 2008) - The pro tours are in full swing and some Met Area players are making their mark, including Trump National-Bedminster assistant professional Jim Herman, who has made the cut in both Nationwide Tour events of the year. Herman, who finished t-2nd at the 2007 Met Open, is in 62nd place on the money list. New Jersey native Chris Nallen has also performed well in the early going and is t-48 on the money list after a top-25 finish at the Mexico Open on February 3.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (January 30, 2008) - Three First Tee of Metropolitan New York sites have each received a $5,000 grant from the PGA of America Foundation and golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The sites, The First Tee of Nassau County, The First Tee of Essex County, and The First Tee of Metropolitan New York at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, were awarded the grants because they use PGA Professionals to instruct participants.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (January 28th, 2008) – The Barclays, the first of four events in the PGA Tour playoffs for the FedExCup, will move from Westchester Country Club to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., for the 2008 event, scheduled for August 20-24, 2008.
