Kevin and Conor Casey Win MGA Father and Son

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.  (August 12, 2014)Kevin and Conor Casey of Galloping Hill and Somerset Hills won the 64th MGA Father & Son Championship at Brooklake Country in Florham Park, N.J., through rainy conditions today. The Caseys had the best score of the day with a 3-under 69 and led the rest of the field by one stroke. Kevin, the director of the Hoffman Cup Matches, said he “just wanted to keep the  ball in play for Conor,” which he did throughout the day. Playing in Pinehurst format, the team only had four birdies and only one bogey.

RUMSON, N.J. (August 8, 2014) - It took 22 holes and an absolutely unbelievable two-putt birdie for Brent Ito of Ardsley, N.Y. to finally claim victory at the 46th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship at Rumson Country Club. The 15-year-old never trailed a match the entire championship, but let a 3-up lead slip away in the final match against Christopher Gotterup of Little Silver, N.J.

RUMSON, N.J. (August 8, 2014) - Rumson Junior Club Champion Chris Gotterup of Little Silver, N.J. will meet Brent Ito of Ardsley, N.Y. in the final match in the 46th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship at Rumson Country Club. Gotterup’s home course advantage has come up big in all of his matches, but he takes on a very tough task against Ito, who has yet to trail in any match he has played.

(August 7, 2014) - The semifinal matches have been set at Rumson Country Club for the 46th MGA/MetLife Boys Championship. 16 talented junior golfers played in a match play bracket today to determine the final four and they will play 18-hole matches again tomorrow to determine the ultimate champion.

UPDATED 2:58 p.m. August 14 - The amazing run at the U.S. Amateur at Atlanta Athletic Club for Cameron Young of Scarborough, N.Y. has come to an end in the quarterfinals. After coming up with some late round magic in each of his first three matches, he came up just short in his quarterfinal match against Gunn Yang of Korea, losing 2 down. Yang won the 17th with a par and then eagled the final hole, the par 5 18th, for a spectacular victory over Young.

LOCUST VALLEY, N.Y. (August 2, 2014) - David Pastore leads 1 up over Matt Lowe after the first 18 holes of the Met Amateur final match. The first 18 hole match was a close one, with both players routinely making pars and halving the holes. Lowe made the turn at 1 up, but after Pastore birdied 14, the match got back to all square.
