DENVILLE, N.J. (July 16, 2014) - The matches are set for the semifinal round of the 97th Met Junior Championship sponsored by MetLife at Rockaway River Country Club in Denville, N.J. Advancing to the semifinals are four of the Met Area’s top junior golfers, Matt Lowe of Farmingdale, N.Y., Dawson Jones of Howell, N.J., John VanDerLaan of Southbury, Conn., and Thomas LaMorte of Haworth, N.J.
DENVILLE, N.J. (July 15, 2014) – The Met Area’s top junior golfers battled through a rain delay and humid conditions at Rockaway River Country Club today to determine the match play portion of the 97th Met Junior Championship sponsored by MetLife. 62 players battled for 16 spots by playing 36 holes of stroke play and two players medaled with 5-under totals of 139. This is the first time in 96 years the format has included on-site stroke play qualifying. In previous years the top 64 from sectional qualifiers and exemptions would make match play.

(July 15, 2014) – The first of two rounds of stroke play qualifying at the 97th Met Junior sponsored by MetLife at Rockaway River Country Club has ended and five players fired under par rounds. The top 16 players out of 62 will move on to the match play portion of the tournament tomorrow.
Carding a superb 5-under 67 was Christian Cavaliere of Katonah, N.Y. Cavaliere had five birdies and an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole en route to the first round lead.

(July 10, 2014) – Xander McDonald-Smith of Marine Park captured his first MGA championship today at Charleston Springs when he won the 67th MGA Public Links Championship by five strokes with a 36-hole score of 6-under 138. The five stroke win ties the record for the largest margin of victory and his total of 138 ties for the second lowest winning score in MGA Public Links history.
