Plandome, NY- The Montclair Golf Club team of Donald Kane and Frank Ferrari, a duo that have been playing team golf for some twenty years, put their collective experience together to fire an impressive 58 (29-29) to capture the 2004 MGA/MetLife Men's Net Team Championship at Plandome CC in Plandome, NY.

Scarsdale, N.Y.- George Zahringer III of Deepdale captured his fourth “Ike” Championship at Quaker Ridge Golf Club, pulling away from a strong field of Met Area amateurs. For the second straight year the championship was presented by Canon USA.

Fairmount’s Allan Small closed with a final round 69, and then defeated Tyler Hall of Packanack in a three-hole aggregate, one-hole sudden death playoff to win the 103rd NJSGA Amateur Championship at Spring Brook CC in Morristown, NJ.

It was an especially significant win for the 52 year-old, former NJ Mid-Amateur champion, due to replacement surgery on both knees this past fall.

Bronx, N.Y.-- As Jack Nicklaus watched a group of aspiring young golfers from Mott Hall 2 school in Manhattan and M.S 180 in the Bronx hit balls at Mosholu GC, a look of content came across his face.

Southampton, NY-In 1995 it was Jerry Courville Jr. and Darrel Kestner. This time around it is Garrison’s Johnson Wagner and Fairfield’s J.J. Henry who will carry the torch and represent the Met Area this week in the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills GC, in Southampton.  

Wagner, winner of five consecutive MGA titles from 2001-02 and current member of the Nationwide Tour, shot rounds of 67 and 70 for a five-under total to earn one of 33 spots in sectional qualifying Columbus, OH, his first trip to the National Championship.

Southampton, NY-J.J. Henry (Fairfield, CT) shot rounds of 75-69 to make the cut in the 109th US Open at Shinnecock Hills, in Southampton, NY.

After making bogey on the difficult par 4 10th hole, Henry recovered by making three birdies on the back nine in shooting 33, edging the cut line by a single stroke.
