CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND (February 28, 2005) - Tied for the lead heading into the final round two-time Met Open and Met Amateur champion Johnson Wagner of Garrison, N.Y. posted a final round 72 to finish at 11-under par 277, three strokes behind winner Peter O’Malley of Australia.
CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND (February 27, 2005) – Met Area local Jim McGovern of Hackensack, NJ finsihed tied for 38th this week at the New Zealand PGA Championship. Chirs Nallen of Hacketstown, NJ failed to make the cut after a tough second round 75.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 17, 2005) - Tim O’ Neill, CGCS, golf course superintendent at the Country Club of Darien, Darien, CT, was elected president of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America on February 11th at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. A native of Pawtucket, RI, O’Neill will head a 12-person Executive Committee and will succeed Mark J. Woodward of Mesa, AZ.
La Quinta, CA…..At the PGA Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage at the PGA West Stadium Course & Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, CA, former NJ State Amateur Champion and Furman University standout Matt Davidson (West Windsor, NJ) earned full exemption to the PGA Tour in 2005 after finishing t –11th with a six round total of 422.

Elmsford, NY…The Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association Scholarship Foundation, the charitable arm of the WMGA, founded in 1899, is now offering college scholarships to young women who have exhibited an interest in golf or golf related careers or activities and plan to or are attending, a university, college or accredited trade school. The Metropolitan Golf Association is proud to announce that Peter Meurer of Silver Lake Golf Course in Staten Island, NY, will receive the 2004 Jerry Courville, Sr. MGA Player of the Year Award at the Association’s 107th Annual Meeting on December 1stat the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, NY.
