LAWRENCE, N.Y. (June 9, 2008) – The Sterling Farms team of Frank Hendricks and Tom Yates captured the 16th MGA Senior Net Four-Ball Tournament title on Monday, June 9 at Lawrence Village Country Club in Lawrence, N.Y.
Editor’s note: Michael Quagliano, 21, of Ardsley, N.Y., is one of eight amateurs competing in the 108th U.S. Open Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California. Quagliano is the captain of the golf team at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and has several local victories to his credit, including the 2003 Met Junior and 2002 MGA/MetLife Boys Championship, as well as the 2007 Westchester Amateur.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 5, 2008) – The 2008 MGA season continues on Monday, June 9 with the rescheduled 16th MGA Senior Net Four-Ball Tournament at Lawrence Village Country Club in Lawrence, N.Y. The event, originally scheduled for May 12, was moved to June 9 due to heavy rains and wet course conditions.
FAR HILLS, N.J. (June 3, 2008) - About 100 young golfers representing The First Tee of Metropolitan New York at Mosholu Golf Course and Weequahic Park Golf Course, The First Tee of Middlesex and Somerset Counties, Bergenfield Public School system and Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, N.J., participated in an MGA/MetLife Junior Clinic held in conjunction with the reopening of the USGA Museum and the new Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History at Golf House in Far Hills, N.J., on June 3rd.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 3, 2008) - Three Met Area collegiate players were recently named to the Division I PING All-Region Team and are now eligible PING All-America honors. Siena men's golf junior co-captain Dan Abbondandolo, 2007 Met Amateur quarterfinalist Kevin Foley of Penn State and Mike Ballo of St. John’s and Woodway Country Club in Darien, Conn.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 29, 2008) - The MGA Foundation received two grants from the USGA as part of its “For The Good Of the Game” initiative to grow the game of golf.
