MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (June 26, 2008) – With an impressive 12-under 59, the Mohansic team of Richard Abramo and Peter Rubeo captured the 32nd MGA/MetLife Men’s Net Team title at Mount Kisco Country Club in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Today’s play saw plenty of impressive rounds across the leaderboard, but none in the field of 48 teams could match Abramo and Rubeo, even despite their slow start.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 26, 2008) - JThe Metropolitan Golf Association mourns the recent passing of two prominent members of the local golf community. Metropolitan PGA Tournament Director John Farley, 62, passed away at his home on Friday, June 20. Farley had been with the Met PGA since 1997 and in that time had organized and run the section’s tournament schedule. The Met Section’s schedule is one of the most ambitious in the country, with events that include the New York State Open and Met PGA Championship.

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. (June 24, 2008) – He’s come very close in recent years, and now Kevin Foley of Neshanic Valley has an MGA championship to his credit. The 21-year-old won the 53rd Ike Championship presented by Canon USA in dramatic fashion, finishing one stroke ahead of 18-year-old Morgan Hoffmann of Arcola in what became a two-man battle at Mountain Ridge Country Club.

WEST CALDWELL, N.J. (June 23, 2008) – It was a day for scoring at the 53rd Ike Championship, presented by Canon USA, and Kevin Foley of Neshanic Valley took full advantage of the conditions. The 21-year-old Penn State junior fired tournament record-tying, six-under par 65 to lead a very competitive first day of play at Mountain Ridge Country Club. Two strokes behind Foley is 18-year-old Morgan Hoffmann of Arcola, who was the midday leader after his morning round of 67.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (June 11, 2008) - Charlie Sifford, the first African-American to play the PGA Tour and the first black golfer to be enshrined at the World Golf Hall of Fame, will be recognized for his pioneering career achievements by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association at their 57th National Awards Dinner on Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, New York. Sifford will receive the Gold Tee Award, the MGWA’s highest honor.
