On a sun-soaked day on Long Island, Hendricks and Yates posted an afternoon net 58 on the par-70 Lawrence Village Country Club layout. Among the group at 63 were defending champions Richard Baris and Bill Ludwig of Packanack, Valentine Stype of LI National and Bill Haardt of Suffolk Players, Split Rock’s Juan Campos and David Pilossoph, Pehquenakonck’s Kevin Dwyer and Tom Lewis, and the team of Andrew Gerone of Shore View and Henry Kong of Dyker Beach. Matthew Corrigan of Nassau Players Club and Ray Corrigan Jr. of Bethpage comprised the day’s low-gross team, with a round of 66.
