USGA Approves Grants in Support of The First Tee
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 29, 2008) - The MGA Foundation received two grants from the USGA as part of its “For The Good Of the Game” initiative to grow the game of golf. The funds will be used to support The First Tee of Metropolitan New York junior golf programming throughout the Metropolitan Area.
For 2008, $25,000 will provide for program instruction and transportation for participants at The First Tee of Essex County based in Weequahic Park in Newark, N.J. The First Tee of Essex County is a jointly operated by the MGA Foundation, the New Jersey PGA and the New Jersey State Golf Association.
The First Tee at Fairchild Wheeler in Bridgeport, Conn., was awarded a $24,000 matching grants fund from the USGA that will help to fund the cost of instruction and programming for First Tee students at two 18-hole courses located at Fairchild Wheeler GC. The First Tee at Fairchild Wheeler is operated in partnership with the MGA Foundation, the Met PGA and The First Tee of Connecticut.
