16 Teens Survive Marathon First Day at 95th Met Junior
ST. JAMES, N.Y. (July 17, 2012) - Sixteen of the finest teen golfers in the Met Area survived a marathon day in 90-degree heat at the 95th Met Junior Championship sponsored by MetLife at Nissequogue Golf Club in St. James, N.Y. Today saw two rounds of match play, with the starting field of 64 reduced to 32 and then to 16 as the day ended. The Round of 16 will be played in the morning on Wednesday, July 18, with the quarterfinals scheduled for the afternoon.

UPDATED 9 a.m. (Monday, July 23, 2012) - Keegan Bradley closed out his first appearance in the Open Championship with a 3-over 73, good enough to finish T34. The former St. John's University standout shot rounds of 71-72-68-73. He'll defend his PGA Championship title next month at Kiawah Island in South Carolina.

UPDATED 9 a.m. (Monday, July 23, 2012) - Jim Liu's tremendous run at the 2012 U.S. Junior came to an end on Saturday afternoon when he lost to Andy Hyeon Bo Shim 4 & 3 in the final match.
The 2010 champion took a massive 5-up lead after the first 18 of the 36-hole final, but Shim came roaring back, winning eight of the first 10 holes of the second 18. Shim never relinquished his 3-up lead and became the first Korean-born player to win the U.S. Junior.

Kavanagh, a rising senior at Monmouth University, carded three birdies in her round to secure her victory and edge out two-time champion Daria Cummings of Centennial.

UPDATED 1:40 p.m. (July 12, 2012) - In what was one of the most thrilling matches in the Round of 32 at the U.S. Public Links, Alex Edfort of Somerset, N.J., was defeated by Ben Griffin of Chapel Hill, N.C., on the first extra hole. Griffin holed a three-foot birdie putt to advance to the Round of 16. Just a day after Edfort's resilience proved to be too much for No. 1 seed James Erkenbeck, he and Griffin pushed for nine consecutive holes (playing them in 1-under) before the winning putt fell.
