GREENWICH, CONN. (August 2, 2013) – The match play portion of the 111th Met Amateur Championship has begun at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. and yesterday’s medalist for the 36-hole stroke play qualifying round, Sam Bernstein of Century, has already advanced to the final eight.

 

Matthew Lowe of Colonial Springs took the Yale senior to the 16th hole, but that was where Bernstein would win it 3 and 2 with a par on the 165-yard par-3.

GREENWICH, CONN. (August 1, 2013) – The 111th Met Amateur Championship at The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. is underway and players have completed their first round. A few competitors got off to hot starts, but a steady rainfall beginning shortly before 11 a.m. provided a much more difficult back nine for the field of 59 players. The top 16 after 36 holes of play will move on to the match play portion of the tournament.

(July 31, 2013) – The MGA’s 11th Carter Cup is underway at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. and the Met Area’s top junior players are through their first round in this 36-hole Junior Stroke Play Championship. The first half of play was conducted on Baltusrol’s Upper Course, which played as a par 71 (35-36) to 6,921 yards.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (July 30, 2013) – 146 players competed in the 98th Met Open Championship sectional qualifier on a day that brought perfect golf weather to the 6,302 yard par-70 greens of Westchester Hills Golf Club in White Plains, N.Y. Sixteen spots (plus ties) were for the taking Tuesday and at the end of the day, 22 players solidified spots and a trip to Old Westbury Country Club, all posting scores of even-par or better.
