Local Pros Start Strong in 2009

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 4, 2009) — A number of Met Area professionals were in Florida in late January to compete in the PGA of America’s early season competitions. C.J. Reeves of Century CC in Purchase, N.Y., captured the TaylorMade-adidas PGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on January 22. On the men’s side, Frank Esposito of Brooklake CC in Florham Park, N.J., finished t-2nd at the TaylorMade-adidas PGA Stroke Play Championship, also at PGA Golf Club.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 28th, 2008) - The MGA, along with hundreds of others representing the golf industry, will be at the Lower Hudson Valley Golf Show and the Long Island Golf Expo. Met area golfers will have the opportunity to visit travel booths as well as participate in numerous equipment and instruction activities sponsored by local businesses. The MGA will also conduct several Educational Seminars at each of the shows.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 4, 2008) - The pro tours are in full swing and some Met Area players are making their mark, including Trump National-Bedminster assistant professional Jim Herman, who has made the cut in both Nationwide Tour events of the year. Herman, who finished t-2nd at the 2007 Met Open, is in 62nd place on the money list. New Jersey native Chris Nallen has also performed well in the early going and is t-48 on the money list after a top-25 finish at the Mexico Open on February 3.

HARRISON, N.Y. (March 22, 2007) - The Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation is pleased to announce Trump National Golf Club - Bedminster, N.J., as the recipient of the first annual MGA Club Environmental Award. The award honors an MGA member club that has demonstrated environmental stewardship through golf course maintenance, construction, education and research.

There isn’t a golfer anywhere who wouldn’t have traded places with Fresh Meadow member Jonny Doppelt the week of February 5. During that week, Doppelt played as an amateur participant in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, one of the most beloved tournaments on the PGA Tour. As if that weren’t good enough, Doppelt was in the same foursome as actor Bill Murray, who happens to be a longtime friend. We caught up with Doppelt upon his return to New York and asked him about the experience of a lifetime.
