An open letter from MetGCSA President, Glen Dube, CGCS:
Dear MetGCSA Members,
An open letter from MetGCSA President, Glen Dube, CGCS:
Dear MetGCSA Members,
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 27, 2015) - Both the Metropolitan Golf Association and Winged Foot Golf Club have storied histories that will meet again this summer for a record seventh time when the 100th playing of the Met Open will take place on the club's East Course.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 19, 2015) - As the PGA TOUR finishes up its California swing this week at Riviera Country Club, some Met Area locals will be teeing it up before the TOUR heads to Florida. The first round begins today and in the field this week is Cameron Wilson of Rowayton, Conn. The 2009 MGA Player of the Year earned his way onto the Web.com Tour in December, but played last week and now this week on the PGA TOUR thanks to sponsor's exemptions.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 9, 2015) - The winner of the Champions Tour Qualifying School Tournament Frank Esposito of Florham Park, N.J., began his new career this week in Florida. Esposito competed in the Allianz Championship, the second Champions Tour event of the year, this past week at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Fla. While Esposito didn't play his best, he got his first tournament under his belt, and finished in style with a final round 1-under 71.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 26, 2014) - The MGA will be implementing the USGA’s recommended “Groove Rule” for the 2014 Met Open and MGA Senior Open Championships, and their respective qualifiers. This Local Rule will also be in effect for all USGA qualifiers conducted by the MGA in the 2014 season.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 14, 2014) - The Rockrimmon Country Club was established in 1947 and is located on the border of North Stamford, Conn., and Pound Ridge, N.Y., with the clubhouse in Connecticut and most of the golf course in New York. It will host the 87th MGA Senior Amateur on May 6 and 7.
UPDATED: August 22, 2013, 9 p.m. - Miller had quite the professional debut this past week at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club. The 21-year-old finished alone in third on the heels of a brilliant final round 4-under 67, that included four birdies on his final nine holes.
Following a three-putt bogey on the uphill par 3 14th, Miller rebounded with a remarkable 3-iron from 255 yards away on the par 5 16th to set up an easy two-putt birdie. He missed two more birdies by inches on the 17th and 18th but was still able to match the championship low score.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (Feburary 24, 2013) - 2008 Ike champion Kevin Foley started off the 2013 season just the way he hoped — by winning the Web.com Tour's opening event, the Panama Claro Championship, by one stroke. Foley started off on the right foot during the first round, carding a score of 4-under 66 to stay near the top of the leaderboard. Throughout the second and third rounds rounds at Panama Golf Club, he played consistently with rounds of 69-70 and was tied for second going into the final round on Sunday.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (February 19, 2013) - Kevin Foley will begin the 2013 season in the exact opposite way he started 2012 — as a full-time member of the Web.com Tour. Foley, the former Penn State All-American and 2008 Ike champion, turned pro prior to the 2010 Met Open at Bethpage and began last season with no status on any tour. He gained access to Web.com Tour events via Monday qualifying and made the most of it, earning just over $119,000 in 16 starts last season.
