Kevin Foley Wins First Web.com Tour Event in Panama City
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (Feburary 24, 2013) - 2008 Ike champion Kevin Foley started off the 2013 season just the way he hoped — by winning the Web.com Tour's opening event, the Panama Claro Championship, by one stroke. Foley started off on the right foot during the first round, carding a score of 4-under 66 to stay near the top of the leaderboard. Throughout the second and third rounds rounds at Panama Golf Club, he played consistently with rounds of 69-70 and was tied for second going into the final round on Sunday.
The Somerville, N.J., native and Penn State grad took it up a notch in the final round when he recorded four birdies, including a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to put him at 8-under for the championship with a 67 in the final round. That putt secured him the win, as Matthew Goggin of Australia couldn't catch up to Foley after his par on 18.
