ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 20, 2011) – The local phase of qualifying for next month’s 111th U.S. Open Championship at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, is complete, with four local qualifying rounds conducted by the Metropolitan Golf Association at four member clubs in the Met Area. The fields of professionals and amateurs who dream of advancing through two stages of qualifying to compete in the national championship now know whether they still have a chance to advance to golf’s biggest stage.

May 18, 2011 – New Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann, one of the top collegiate players to ever come out of the Met Area, will be turning professional sometime after the NCAA Championship, which concludes on June 5. Hoffmann, a two-time All-American at Oklahoma State will forego his senior season to compete on the professional ranks.

Doug Ford Inducted into World Golf Hall of Fame
May 12, 2011 – One of the most decorated local professionals in golf history, Yonkers, N.Y., native Doug Ford was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame on Monday, May 9, in St. Augustine, Fla. Ford, who won the 1955 PGA Championship, 1957 Masters and 1956 Met Open, collected 19 PGA Tour victories over his career. Ford was also a four-time member of the United States Ryder Cup team, helping the U.S. to three victories.
