2014 French-American Challenge: Team MGA and WMGA
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (October 3, 2014) – Ten players representing the MGA and WMGA will travel to Paris for the 17th French-American Challenge, a biennial competition between the MGA/WMGA and the Ligue de Paris. This year’s matches will be played at the beautiful Golf de Saint Cloud, one of France’s premier courses, on October 17 & 18.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (October 3, 2014) - A field of 86 players is ready for the 8th MGA Mid-Amateur Championship at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., on October 7 and 8. The 36-hole stroke play event brings together the Met Area’s best amateurs over the age of 35 who are invited to compete based on top finishes in MGA and Met Area events.
FLORAL PARK, N.Y. (October 2, 2014) – It was an exciting finish at the 30th MGA/MetLife Women’s Four-Ball Championship at Towers Country Club as three teams found themselves in a playoff to determine the champions. After sinking a 32-foot putt on the first playoff hole, Susan Canarick and Janet Mazza of the Glen Cove Women’s 18 Holers claimed first place. Canarick and Mazza had a dramatic finish on their final hole of regular play and chipped in for a net 63 to send them to the playoff.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 30, 2014) - The MGA hosted a Public Golf Forum at Bethpage State Park for public golf facility managers, professionals and superintendents as a part of the MGA's educational series. The day focused on ways that leaders in the golf community can grow the game, encourage new players to take up the sport and engage with those who are already regular golfers.
UPDATED: (September 29, 2014) - The Columbia Men's Golf Team played host to The Tuxedo Autumn Invitational this weekend and did it in winning fashion. As a team, they finished in first place at a total of 53-over par, winning by eight shots. Hofstra finished in second and Lehigh right behind in third.
UPDATED (October 3, 2014) - Three Met Area teams made the trip to French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana to take on the Pete Dye Course at the USGA Men's State Team Championship this week and while it is a team event, it was highlighted by the individual play of the red hot David Pastore of Greenwich, Conn. Pastore, 22, fired rounds of 70, 72, and 72 for a 2-under three day total of 214, finishing in solo second, one stroke behind individual first place out of a field of 156 players. .
NEW CITY, N.Y. (September 23, 2014) – Sam Wallach of Randolph, N.J., and Steven Zychowski of Mendham, N.J., earned a trip to The Olympic Club for the Inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at today’s Sectional Qualifying Round at Paramount Country Club in New City, N.Y. This was the first qualifying round that the MGA has conducted for this event.

(September 22, 2014) - On September 30 the MGA and MGA Foundation will host a Public Golf Forum at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., for public golf facility managers, professionals, and superintendents. The day is designed to provide leaders at public golf facilities with fresh insight and ideas on how to maintain success at their courses and facilities.
