MGA to Host Public Golf Forum
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 22, 2014) - On September 30 the MGA and MGA Foundation will host a Public Golf Forum at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., for public golf facility managers, professionals, and superintendents. The day is designed to provide leaders at public golf facilities with fresh insight and ideas on how to maintain success at their courses and facilities.
The seminar will feature a panel of experts in the field and will touch on a wide range of topics and issues that pertain to public golf, including player development, course management and operations.
Distinguished speakers will enlighten the audience on a variety of topics:
Dave Oatis, Director Northeast Region, USGA Green Section, will discuss what it means to you and your golf course to sustain course management. The subjects he will talk about include growing budgets, pace of play, maintenance practices, and the USGA’s perspective of these concepts.
Jonathan Gold, Player Development Regional Manager in the NY Market Area from the PGA of America, will explain the key component that is player development and how it will grow rounds and the ultimate success of facilities.
Jim Keegan, Managing Principal of Golf Convergence and author of the Business of Golf Book Series, will discuss the business of golf. He will cover points such as oversupply, variable weather, inconsistent adaptation of technology, and much more. Keegan’s approach to overcome these obstacles will provide new insight and perspectives on how to create value for golfers on a foundation that ensures the financial potential of your golf course.
