STAMFORD, CONN. (June 12, 2013) – Darlington’s Kevin Purcell earned medalist honors after firing a 1-under round of 71 at Wednesday’s MGA/MetLife Public Links sectional qualifying round at Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford, Conn. Purcell, the general manager of five Bergen County golf courses, tied for 25th at last year’s Public Links at Bethpage Black.
BRONX, N.Y. (June 11, 2013) – A field of 86 players competed for 11 spots (and ties) at the Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course in Bronx, N.Y., on Tuesday for a trip to the 66th MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship. When it was all over, 11 players on the number were able to conquer the short yet challenging 6,002 yard par 70 layout and qualify, all posting scores of 75 or better.

Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. This marks the third and fourth appearances, respectively, for each of the former local stars.
MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (June 6, 2013) – A total of 57 players competed for seven qualifying spots (plus ties) at the Sectional Qualifying Round for the 66th MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship. The competition was held Thursday at Stony Ford Golf Course in Montgomery, N.Y.
Despite cool and windy conditions, the eight players who advanced to the championship at Richter Park Golf Course on July 11 all managed to shoot under par.

Locust Valley, N.Y. (June 4, 2013) – Scotland Preston, 19, of Echo Lake Country Club captured the 12th WMGA/MGA Women’s Met Amateur Championship today at The Creek in Locust Valley, N.Y. Preston claimed she played consistently and tried to be smart around the greens to get through the challenging setup and to card a score of 2-over par 74 and claim her first Women’s Met Am title. Preston is the daughter of long-time Echo Lake Head Professional Mike Preston and this was the first time she played in the event.

be packing his bags for the 113th U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., next week.
PURCHASE, N.Y. (June 3, 2013) - Looking to qualify for his sixth U.S. Open, Geoffrey Sisk of Marshfiled, Mass., fired a 3-under 68 at Century CC to lead the field of 79 hopefuls midway through sectional qualifying. Sisk, who successfully qualified through local and sectionals four times, was a member on the Web.com Tour in 2011 and led them in driving accuracy.
