MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (June 6, 2013) – A total of 57 players competed for seven qualifying spots (plus ties) at the Sectional Qualifying Round for the 66th MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship. The competition was held Thursday at Stony Ford Golf Course in Montgomery, N.Y.
Despite cool and windy conditions, the eight players who advanced to the championship at Richter Park Golf Course on July 11 all managed to shoot under par.

Preston claimed she played consistently and tried to be smart around the greens to get through the challenging setup and to card a score of 2-over par 74 and claim her first Women’s Met Am title. Preston is the daughter of long-time Echo Lake Head Professional Mike Preston and this was the first time she played in the event.
