Ingles Elected President of Met Golf Writers Association
ELMSFORD, N.Y.-Longtime sportscaster and former WCBS radio sports director Ed Ingles has been elected president of the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association. He succeeds Bruce Smith of Sporty Bear Productions, who served a four-year term.
Pat Norton of Norton Communications was named vice-president at the MGWA Board of Directors’ annual meeting. Newly named to the Board were Joel Blumber of WGBB radio and Clifton Brown of the New York Times. Re-elected to the Board were Dave Anderson, Bruce Beck, Martin Davis, John Glozek, Peter Morrice, Jay Mottola, Howie Munck, Marty Parkes, Les Schupak, Ron Sirak, Chuck Stogel, and Tony Wimpfheimer. Leaving the Board were Don Mahoney, Rick Remsnyder and Roger Schiffman.
A member of the MGWA Board for 23 years and a former vice president, Ingles has covered more than 70 Grand Slam golf events for WCBS and the CBS radio network, including 35 Masters. A resident of Freeport, NY, Ingles is currently WRHU-FM professional-in-residence and Athletic Policy Committee chairman at Hofstra University. He is also a broadcaster for Landers Production Co. and radio color commentator for Iona College basketball.
In addition to Ingles’ election, the following were named MGWA committee chairmen: Norton, awards dinner; Munck, activities; Beck, membership; Davis, Dave Marr Scholarship.
