Sea Island, GA.-Roger Hoit of Baltusrol Golf Club pulled off an amazing come from behind victory in his second round match against Bryan Norton of Mission Hills, KS. After rallying from 5 down after five holes to win with a birdie on the first extra hole. In addition, Mark Thompson of Plandome won his second round match against Larry Tedesco of Cumming, GA after matching birdies on the difficult par 4, 18th hole to earn a 1- up victory and secure a spot in tomorrow’s round of 16.

Hoit will face Kevin Marsh of Las Vegas, NV who defeated Trip Kuehne on the fifth playoff hole, at 8:10 am while Thompson will face Josh Dennis of Birmingham, AL at 8:30 am.

Austin Eaton formerly of Sterling Farms, who reached the quarterfinals of the Mid-Am in 2002 at The Stanwich Club, also advanced to the third round after defeating Barry Fabyan of Charlotte, NC in 23 holes. He will face Tim Hogarth of Northridge, CA at 8:00 am. Dirk Fennie, formerly of Ridgewood (NJ) CC, dropped his second round match to Michael Turner of Sherman Oaks, CA 6 and 4.

2002 Champion George Zahringer of Deepdale was forced to withdraw due to injury.
