J.J. HENRY FINISHES T-2 AT FBR OPEN
Thirty-year-old J. J. Henry, formerly of the Patterson Club in Fairfield, Connecticut, shot the round of his life on February 3rd. Playing in the FBR Open at the TPC at Scottsdale, Arizona, Henry shot a 10-under-par 61 in the second round to take a four-shot lead in the tournament. In a round that included seven consecutive birdies, one shy of the PGA Tour record, he canned five putts in the 25-30 foot range. Henry ultimately finished tied for second, equaling his best-ever finish on Tour (twice in 2001), and earned $312,000.
Henry, who was a finalist in the 1994 Met Amateur and 2nd in the 1997 Ike Championship and was named NCAA co-Player of the Year in 1998, joined the Nationwide Tour in 1999, and the PGA Tour in 2001. He has earned his card every year thereafter, finishing in the top 125 in earnings, and his performance at Scottsdale bodes well for an even better performance this year.
