Foursomes went out in the morning and the MGA/WMGA produced some of the most talented teams that the Met Area has to offer. Junior Ryder Cup Team member Cameron Young played alongside New Jersey Mid-Amateur Champion Trevor Randolph and unsurprisingly claimed a 4 & 2 victory over their French counterparts. Along with the Young-Randolph team, Bergen County Amateur Champion Dylan Newman and NJSGA Amateur Champion Mike Stamberger, clinched their match 3 & 2.

The afternoon was conducted as a fourball and the American team made for some very close matches to give the American team a competitive finish going into the final round.

Young’s veteran experience in international play was spotlighted again as he and the newly crowned Met Amateur Champion David Pastore contributed a 5 & 3 victory for the American team. Arcola Cup Champion Sam Bernstein and Mike Stamberger also earned winning points with their 2 & 1 victory over the French team members. Ellen Oswald and Liliana Ruiz-Munoz halved their match to end the competition at 5 and 1/2 to 4 and 1/2, with France at a shallow lead.

Saturday's single matches should be an exciting finish to the 17th French-American Challenge.
