Sokol & Wagner Win MGA/MetLife Women's Net Team Title
PELHAM, N.Y. (October 1, 2009) – Linda Sokol and Betty Wagner of the Meroke Golf Association (Long Island) beat out a talented field of golfers to win the 25th MGA/MetLife Women’s Net Team Championship at Pelham Country Club in Pelham, N.Y.
The duo shot an impressive round of six-under-par 66 to beat out the team of Valerie Reardon and Ruth Andrews of Tuxedo, who finished in solo second with a 67. There was a tie for third place between Regina Goewey and Julie Pollitz of Dunwoodie, and Barbara Spinelli and Sue Lee of Mohansic Hills Ladies Golf Club, who each shot 68.
The 35 teams in today’s championship began by qualifying at the club level for the MGA/MetLife Women’s Net Team Championship, before moving on to one of three Sectional Qualifying Rounds. For more information please contact Greg Midland or Bob Nielsen at (914) 347-4653.
