COLD SPRING HARBOR, N.Y. (August 6, 2025) — Arwen Xu Dong, 13 of USGA/MGA Golf Club, and Yiwen Wang, 18 and a Youth on Course – MGA member, delivered a dominant performance at Cold Spring Country Club, firing a stellar 7-under 64 to capture the 61st MGA/WMGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship.
The pair set the tone early, carding a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole before adding back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 to make the turn at 3-under. They carried that momentum into the back nine, adding four more birdies to complete a bogey-free round and secure the title.
“I think my approach improved in the game because of the pressure,” said Arwen. “And I compliment him for his long shots and putting.”
“I had many good drives in the fairway, and many greens in regulation,” added Yiwen. “We just had great teamwork today.”
Reflecting on their composure throughout the round, Arwen credited their chemistry saying, “I think it’s just friendship and working together with really good pairing. He has the strength and the driving yardage.” Yiwen added, “Yeah, just partnership and everyone doing their job to get it done. My partner had the short game and the approach shots, which made it perfect.”
In the Net Division, Scott Bloom and Elizabeth Wallen of Lake Success Golf Club and Muttontown Club posted an impressive 8-under 63 to take top honors. Meanwhile, the Professional Division was won by Cold Spring’s own Jane Sirmons and John Laruffa, who carded a 1-under 70.
