HEWLETT, N.Y. (June 11, 2026) Eli Weidmann (a) of MGA eClub – Long Island captured the 102nd Long Island Open Championship Presented by Stifel on Thursday at The Seawane Club. Weidmann held off a strong field of amateurs and professionals, finishing at 11-under par to claim his first Long Island Open title.
After firing an 8-under 64 in the second round, one shot shy of the course record, Weidmann entered the final round with a one-shot lead over the field.
“Throughout junior golf I led coming into the final round a couple of times, but not in an event as big as this, so it was a little bit of uncharted territory,” said Weidmann. “I knew it was going to be a battle with Chen today and was ready to go out and compete.”
A three-putt bogey on the second hole briefly cost Weidmann the lead, but he quickly settled in. He responded with four birdies over his next seven holes to regain control of the championship.
“I played a good front nine and felt really solid,” said Weidmann. “After a bogey on two, I settled in and made four birdies after that.”
Playing alongside Weidmann in the final group was Peicheng Chen of Rock Hill Golf & Country Club. Like Weidmann, Chen produced a remarkable second round, tying the course record with a 9-under 63 to earn a spot in the final pairing.
Chen made an eagle on the par-5 sixth and remained within striking distance throughout the round. However, despite adding two birdies, three back-nine bogeys proved costly as he finished one shot back at 10-under par.
“It’s crazy how fast a lead can disappear,” said Weidmann. “I hit one wayward shot out of a bunker on 13 and there it goes.”
After a slow start to the back nine, Weidmann delivered the defining moment of the championship on the par-4 17th, converting a clutch birdie to reclaim a one-shot advantage. Holding that lead on the final hole, he found a deep greenside bunker with his approach. A remarkable bunker shot to within inches of the hole sealed the championship for Weidmann.
The round of the day belonged to Dylan Gallagher (a) of Montauk Downs Golf Club. Gallagher carded a 7-under 65, including a blistering 6-under 30 on the front nine, to post 10-under par in the clubhouse and apply pressure to the leaders throughout the afternoon.
Arjun Singh Bhatia (a) of MGA eClub – Long Island finished fourth at 9-under par following a final-round 1-under 71. Bhatia recorded four birdies on the front nine and remained in contention until a bogey on the 18th hole ended his chances of catching the leaders.
The 103rd Long Island Open Championship will be played at Noyac Golf Club.
