The team went to Scotland where the Ryder Cup will take place this weekend and won in dominating fashion 16-8 over Europe's junior team.

Now in its 20th year, the success of the GOLFWORKS program can be attributed to the willingness of MGA member clubs to hire very deserving teenagers, many of whom have never considered working at a golf club, like second-year intern Gerardo Ramos, who works at The Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y.

LAWRENCE, N.Y. (September 15, 2014)  - Ron Vannelli of Forsgate won the 3rd MGA Senior Masters today at Rockaway Hunting Club with a score of 1-over 71. The 2005 MGA Player of the Year added another victory to his resume after a round that included four birdies, edging out the 2013 champion Marty Winkelman of Glen Head by two strokes.

3rd MGA Senior Masters Tournament Heads to Rockaway Hunting Club Monday

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 12 , 2014) –The Metropolitan Golf Association’s youngest championship, the Senior Masters Tournament, is set for its third playing on Monday, September 15 at the Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawerence, N.Y. Seventy-two amateurs aged 65 and over (with a Handicap Index not exceeding 10.0) will compete in the 18-hole stroke play competition to determine the top super senior in the Met Area.

UPDATED 4:03 p.m. (September 16, 2014) - Al Small led his Round of 32 match for 15 holes, even by as many as 4 up through nine holes. His opponent Chris Hall finally squared the match on the 16th and then proceeded to win in stunning fashion by claiming the final two holes for a 2 up victory. It was a good run for Small and he nearly advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time in his U.S. Senior Amateur career, but came up just short.

UPDATED 2:10 p.m. (September 9, 2014) - After a hard fought Round of 32 match that lasted 19 holes, Alyssa Roland of New York, N.Y. came up just short at the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. Roland had won only three holes heading to the 18th, where she was 1 down. She would win the 18th to extend the match, but lost on the 19th when her opponent, Christina Proteau, birdied the par 4 370 yard 1st hole at Harbour Trees.

Saladino, Bakst and other locals head to Saucon Valley for U.S. Mid-Am

UPDATED 4:00 p.m. (September 9, 2014) - The run for Jersey City, N.J.'s Matt Mattare at the U.S. Mid-Amateur at his home track ended in the Round of 16 this afternoon. Mattare lost a grueling match 2 & 1 to the 7th overall seeded Todd White and won't be moving on to the quarterfinals.

Ned Zachar of Bedford, N.Y. lost his match in 19 holes against Michael Harrington.
