Four MGA Champs Advance to NCAA Championship
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 24, 2010) – Four Met Area collegiate golfers have advanced, along with their respective teams, to the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, which begins on June 1 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Morgan Hoffmann, the 23rd-ranked player in the nation and the 2005 Carter Cup champion, finished t-3 at the Southeast Regional as his Oklahoma State Cowboys, the #1 team in the country, finished first.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 24, 2010) – The race to win the 2010 MGA Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year is off to a fast start. Joe Saladino of Huntington, the 2008 Player of the Year, leads the pack after a win at the Havemeyer Invitational at Southward Ho Country Club on May 22. That victory, along with a semifinalist finish at the Richardson Invitational at the Seawane Club on May, brought Saladino’s total to 145 points, good for a 20-point lead over David Pierce of Neshanic Valley and John Crowley of Round Hill.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 21, 2010) – Entries for the 63rd MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship close on Wednesday, June 2. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 8 at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, N.Y., one of the top public courses in the Met Area. This year will mark the seventh time Spook Rock has hosted the championship and the first since 2006, when Mark Farrell of Higgins Golf Club won his second consecutive title. Defending champion Josh Goldstein of Grossingers will try to defend his title against a field of the top public links players in the Met Area.

Four Met Area courses set to host qualifiers next week
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 14, 2010) – The 110th U.S. Open is just one month away and the best players in the Met Area and around the world have their sights set on this year’s host site, Pebble Beach Golf Links. To get there, most players must advance through two stages of qualifying, beginning at the local level. This year, the MGA is hosting four local qualifiers, taking place at four separate Met Area courses over three days from May 17-19.
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (May 13, 2010) – Entries for the 55th Ike Championship presented by Canon Business Solutions close on Wednesday, May 19. The event is scheduled for June 28 and 29 at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, N.Y., site of three Met Amateurs, four Met Opens, the 2006 Senior Open and, most recently, the 2008 French-American Challenge. Defending champion Mike Ballo Jr. of Woodway Country Club in Darien, Conn., will try to become the first player to successfully defend his title since Ken McDonald in 1999-2000. The A.W.
