Southampton, NY-In 1995 it was Jerry Courville Jr. and Darrel Kestner. This time around it is Garrison’s Johnson Wagner and Fairfield’s J.J. Henry who will carry the torch and represent the Met Area this week in the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills GC, in Southampton.  

Wagner, winner of five consecutive MGA titles from 2001-02 and current member of the Nationwide Tour, shot rounds of 67 and 70 for a five-under total to earn one of 33 spots in sectional qualifying Columbus, OH, his first trip to the National Championship.

The MGA has announced a partnership with The Classics of Golf, as means of providing golf fans the opportunity to purchase traditional golf books that have been recently restored.

Classics of Golf is a distinguished collection of 59 of the greatest golf books ever written, which have been elegantly reprinted for purchase by dedicated golf-lovers. ST. ANDREW’S, SCOTLAND-Lee Corfield of Burnham & Berrow, England sank a birdie putt on the 18th hole to defeat Winged Foot’s Andrew Svoboda in the semifinal of the British Amateur Championship at the Old Course in St. Andrew’s, Scotland.
