HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (May 11, 2016) – For the first time in nearly 50 years, the MGA Senior Amateur Championship has had a successful title defense, as George Zahringer III of Deepdale claimed his second straight win in the event. The record 17-time MGA champion carded a 4-over 74 in Wednesday’s final round at Huntington Country Club, for a 1-over 141 tournament total and two-stroke victory.
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (May 10, 2016) – Old Westbury Golf and Country Club gave way for six players to advance through a Local Qualifying Round for the 2016 U.S. Open. Those who qualified will move forward to the Sectional Qualifying Round at Canoe Brook Country Club (North & South), in Summit, N.J., on Monday, June 6. Two alternates were also designated.

James Graham of Winged Foot and Jon Doppelt of Fresh Meadow both carded rounds of 2-over 72.

Located adjacent to the Southport Harbor on Long Island Sound, the Country Club of Fairfield has been host to numerous MGA and local area tournaments throughout its history.
