GLADSTONE, N.J. (June 23, 2025) – After a scorching day where temperatures approached 100 degrees, Reed Greyserman captured the lead in the 70th Ike Stroke Play Championship at his home of Hamilton Farm Golf Club, utilizing his course knowledge to card a 6-under-par 66 to lead by one.

The rising sophomore at Princeton carded an eagle, five birdies, and one bogey in his opening round. The 20-year-old started hot with a birdie on the 329-yard par-4 first. He followed that up with an eagle on the 568-yard par-5 second. Birdies followed on the ninth, 11th, 16th, and 17th with the only blemish coming on No. 6.
“The game has felt good for a while,” said Reed. “To be out here at my home course, it feels great. Playing at my home course allowed me to focus on my game. There are a lot of shots out there that I am very comfortable with that I have hit so many times.”
Reed added, “The finishing stretch is very tough, especially with the heat today. On 16, [I hit a] great tee shot and second shot. Then on 17, I hit my tee shot to 15-20 feet. You’re not trying to make that putt, but it went in, so that was a bonus. I made a really good up-and-down on 18.”
One shot off the pace is Colin Summers of Plainfield. Summers’ 5-under 67 featured an eagle, four birdies, and one bogey. The 21-year-old was even after nine holes, then eagled the par-5 second, and then birdied Nos. 3, 7, and 9 to close his round with a 31 over his second nine. Summers continued his streak of strong starts in the Ike, having opened with rounds of 65 and 67 at Brooklawn and Nassau, respectively, the last two years.
Two shots behind are Jonathan Oakes of Ardsley and MET PGA Junior Golf Club member Dean Muratore. Oakes and Muratore had the best rounds of the morning at 4-under par. On the back nine, Oakes carded a 3-under 33. Muratore carded seven birdies over his opening round.
“I hit a bunch of fairways early on, and then hit it decently close on the first hole, I hit it to two inches,” said Muratore. “Other than that, I hit it solid all around and made a bunch of putts kind of early on to get going.”
Rounding out the top five were Reed’s older brother Dean Greyserman of Hamilton Farm and MGA eClub – New Jersey member Jose Ramirez at 3-under. Dean started on No. 10 and birdied three of his last four before making the turn at 3-under. Ramirez was even par heading into the par-5 ninth, his last hole of the day. The 2024 MGA Public Links champion holed out for an albatross to vault up the leaderboard.
Six golfers sit at 2-under par, including 2020 Ike champion Mark Costanza of Hamilton Farm, past Met Junior champions Barnes Blake of Baltusrol (2023) and Christian Cavaliere of Hudson National (2016), Boys’ champion Nathan Han of the USGA/MGA GC (2015, 2016), and Public Links champion Eric LeFante of Somerset Hills (2012). Mike Rotherberg from Mill River sits at 2-under, too.

Twenty players finished round one under par, and twenty-nine finished at even par or better.
After the opening round, a cut was made to the top 40 competitors and ties, who will return to Hamilton Farm on Tuesday for the second and third rounds. Forty-five competitors made the cut, which fell at 1-over par after round one.
Reed added, “Thirty-six holes is a lot of golf. There is a long way to go in this tournament.”
