GLADSTONE, N.J. (June 24, 2025) – Hamilton Farm’s Reed Greyserman birdied two of the three holes in a three-person playoff to win the 70th Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship at his home course to earn his third MGA title.
Greyserman edged Mike Rothberg of Sterling Farms and Nathan Han of USGA/MGA GC in the three-hole aggregate playoff after the trio all finished at 9-under for the 54 hole championship. The rising sophomore at Princeton University won the MGA/MetLife Boys’ Championship in 2019 and 2020. He is the first home club champion of the Ike since 1998, when Greg Rohlf won at Wykagyl.
After the third round concluded Tuesday afternoon, the three competitors played the par-3 seventh, par-4 eighth, and par-5 ninth for the playoff. Greyserman made par on the first playoff hole before birdieing the second and third holes to claim the title. Rothberg bogeyed the seventh after leaving his initial chip in the rough, while Han made par. Rotheberg then matched birdies with Greyserman on the final two holes. The rising senior at Sacred Heart had an eagle putt to extend the playoff, but missed low.
“[I was] trying to stay present and patient in the playoff,” said Greyserman. “A good two-putt par on seven. A good tee shot on eight and made a 10-footer for birdie. On nine, the second shot was probably the shot of the week for me. I hit it exactly how I drew it up. I think I had 201, played it 196, and hit a hard draw 7-iron to 20 feet and got it done.”
Greyserman had an opportunity to win it in regulation. The 20-year-old made back-to-back birdies on the par-5 14th and par-4 15th to take the solo lead at 10-under. After a par on No. 16, Greyserman was short of the green on the par-3 17th and couldn’t get up-and-down for par.
Rothberg and Han made back nine charges in the final round to vault themselves up the leaderboard. Rothberg started his round with seven straight pars before making birdies on No. 8 and 9 to make the turn at 5-under for the championship. On the back nine, Rothberg birdied 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 to finish at 9-under. Han birdied holes 11, 14-17 to cap a final round 7-under 65.
Jose Ramirez of the MGA eClub – New Jersey finished in fourth. The 2024 Public Links champion was in position to be in the playoff before bogeying the par-3 17th. The second-round co-leader almost chipped in from behind the green at No. 18 but came up two feet short.
Barnes Blake of Baltusrol, Mark Costanza of Hamilton Farm, and Colin Summers of Plainfield finished in a tie for fifth at 7-under par for the championship. Blake, the 2023 Met Junior champion, fired a 5-under 67 in the final round. Costanza found himself in the lead after a 3-under front nine, but three bogeys on the back nine moved him down the leaderboard. Summers was the co-leader with Ramirez entering the final round. A double-bogey on No. 16 knocked Summers out of the playoff at 9-under.
Greyserman felt comfortable at his home course, which made the win even more special. “It’s awesome. And to get it done [at home], it feels amazing. To hear the names that have won this tournament and to put my name up there is a great feeling and gives me confidence going forward.”
The top 10 finishers are exempt into this year’s Met Amateur and next year’s Ike at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
Greyserman and Costanza secured the Ike Team Championship for Hamilton Farm. The title is awarded to the two individuals from the same club with the lowest combined score for 54 holes. It is the third team title in the last four years for Hamilton Farm.
This week’s Ike was the first MGA Championship hosted by Hamilton Farm.
