ELMSFORD, N.Y. (September 10, 2025) – The MGA this year updated its championship program with the former four-ball championships getting re-imagined as the MGA/MetLife Doubles Championship. The event will be held October 14 at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, N.Y.

The format shifts from traditional four-ball play to a two-person, better shot or scramble format. Each team will start the hole from their designated tees, then select the better shot between the two players and play from there. The process continues until the ball is holed on each hole.
The MGA/MetLife Doubles Championship allows for more wide-ranging, inclusive playing opportunities, as teams may be comprised of two men, two women, or a man and woman (mixed division), while there will also be a division for senior golfers. The overall MGA champion will be crowned on a net basis, with all divisions eligible for the overall title. Additionally, each division will have a low net winner and a low gross winner.
The Doubles format has gained popularity nationally through Doubles Golf®, which was co-founded by Jack Nicklaus and the originators of Junior League Golf. The MGA will partner with Doubles Golf in 2025, with the overall gross division winners (four teams) earning an invitation to the U.S. Doubles Golf Am Championship to be conducted at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Fla., in November.
Qualifying will take place from September 9 – October 1.

Our tied leaders in the Men’s Doubles Net Division, started with a standout bogey-free performance of 8-under from Jonathan Granville and Bryant Michels of Cherry Valley Club. Alongside them 8-under, Roberto Caridi and Rafael Vasquez of USGA/MGA GC solidified their spot with six birdies and an eagle on the second hole. Max Sorger and Jack Eichler of Montclair moved to the top spot in the Men’s Doubles Gross Division, with a 6-under 64. The impressive performances continued as Charlotte Daughan of the MGA eClub – Connecticut and Elizabeth Barnes of Pound Ridge Golf Club made six birdies to card a 5-under 65, topping the Women’s Doubles Net Division. Ohsoon Chun and Nancy Chu of Bethpage finished with an even 70 for their top spot in the Women’s Doubles Gross Division. Savannah Thompson and Harris Chang USGA/MGA GC of the Mixed Doubles Net Division had a dominating round with a 6-under 64, making four birdies and an eagle on the second as well. In the Mixed Doubles Gross Division, Nicole Ewing of USGA/MGA GC and Tyler Williams of MGA eClub – NYC secured their position with four birdies on the back nine, making six in total. Results

In the Men’s Doubles Gross Division, Alexander Cooper and William Bassin of Old Oaks Country Club set the pace with an impressive 11-under 60, featuring nine birdies and an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole. Just one shot back, Brandon Chatkin of Edgewood Country Club and Jonathan Koonin of Paramount Country Club carded a 10-under 61 to secure their place near the top. The Men’s Doubles Net Division was led by Tyler Jones and Bill Mullady of West Hills Country Club, who posted a 13-under 58 thanks to nine birdies and two eagles. In the Women’s Divisions, Anne-Marie Brillantes and Linda Boyer of Knollwood Country Club led both the Gross and Net competitions, carding a 5-over 76 gross and a 1-over 72 net, while Barbara Acosta and Laurie Schelz of Innis Arden Golf Club tied for the lead in the Net at 1-over. Meanwhile, in the Mixed Doubles Gross Division, Adam Pinto of Noyac Golf Club and Devyn Gardner of Hudson National posted an even-par 71 to claim the top spot, as Bryan Hassett and Mary Corretjer of Haverstraw Golf Club led the Net Division with a 2-under 69.

In the Men’s Doubles Gross Division, Rodney Stilwell and Scott Ireland of Silver Lake Men’s Golf Club took the top spot with an impressive 12-under 58, fueled by eleven birdies and an eagle on the par-4 14th hole. Close behind at 10-under 60 were Kenneth Li and Kevin Li of MGA eClub – New York City. In the Men’s Doubles Net Division, Rob McMackin and Michael Clohessy of Blue Hill Golf Association led the field with a 12-under 58 that included seven birdies and three eagles. On the women’s side, Kate Granahan and Stephen Boyd of Baltusrol Golf Club, representing MGA eClub – New Jersey, led the Women’s Doubles Gross Division with an 8-under 62, while Milliscent Loughlin and Nicholas Loughlin of Fiddler’s Elbow topped the Net Division. Rounding out the field, Louise Lawson and Mary Gardner of Brookridge Women’s Golf Club led both the Mixed Doubles Gross Division at 9-over 79 and the Mixed Doubles Net Division at 4-over 74.
