Qualifying: 100th Long Island Open

Elmsford, N.Y (May 9, 2024) — The 99th Long Island Open Championship Presented by Stifel this year heads to Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley, N.Y., June 4-6. While the field is already strong with exempt players, remaining spots are up for grabs in a pair of qualifiers several weeks prior to the championship.

May 9 – Bethpage State Park (Red) Farmingdale, N.Y.
The first qualifier brought a packed and tight leaderboard at Bethpage Red. There were plenty of low scores, but it would take a 3-under par 67 to get to the top of the leaderboard. When the play concluded there was a six-way tie for medalist which included two amateurs, Max Silverman of Glen Oaks Club and Jan Rybczynski of MGA eClub Long Island. They were joined by Alex Willey of Garden City Country Club, Ryan Bitzer of Westhampton Country Club, Ben Pirro of Long Island National, and Dylan Crowley of Glen Cove. Overall 39 players including 22 amateurs qualified after shooting 2-over par or better on the day.

May 15 – Indian Hills Golf Club, Northport, N.Y.
On a cold and windy day at Indian Hills it was Andre Chi of Deepdale Golf Club who would take home medalist honors. Chi posted a 3-under 69 after carding three birdies and an eagle on the day. Following closely behind was Jay Card of Gardiner’s Bay Country Club who posted a 2-under 70 for a solo second place. In a tie for third was Cole Vissicchio of Sands Point Golf Club and Donnie Shin of New York Country Club at even par. Overall 27 golfers advanced after shooting a 5-over 77 or better. This includes 13 amateurs.
