The MGA’s calendar of competitions contains a variety of opportunities to play alongside a partner.
The par-3 15th at Tamarack Country Club, host of the 71st MGA Father & Son Championship
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (March 11, 2021) – In addition to its variety of individual championships, the MGA’s complete calendar of competitions also offers a number of opportunities for players to vie for a title with a partner. These events not only allow players to team up alongside a family member or friend, but also provide a fun, yet competitive atmosphere for players whose Handicap Indexes fall closer to that of the average golfer.

28th Senior Net Four-Ball Championship
Taking place May 18 at Ardsley Country Club, the Senior Net Four-Ball welcomes two-man teams that do not have to be from the same MGA member club. Each player—aged 55 and older—competes at 90% of their Course Handicap and entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 18.0.
57th MGA/WMGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship
Teams composed of a male and a female will compete in the fun Pinehurst format, July 6 at Lawrence Yacht & Country Club. Men’s Handicap Index must not exceed 14.0, while women’s may not exceed 18.0. There is also a professional division in which either the male or female may be the professional. A LIGA Championship will also be handed out to the Mixed Pinehurst team where both players are members of a LIGA club.
71st MGA Father & Son Championship
This beloved championship that celebrates the golf tie between father and son heads to Tamarack Country Club, August 9. Both the father and son must be members of an MGA member club with a Handicap Index not exceeding 18. Teams compete in the Pinehurst format. There is also a professional division in which either the father or son may be the professional. LIGA and WGA titles will be awarded to teams where both players are members of LIGA clubs and both players are members of WGA clubs, respectively.
Inaugural Parent-Child Net Tournament
Formerly the Father and Son Net Tournament, the MGA’s new Parent-Child Net Tournament opens the field to a wider variety of teams that will compete in the Pinehurst format. The event is open to any team comprised of a parent and child, in any gender combination. Stepparents, grandparents and in-laws are eligible. Both competitors must be members of an MGA member club, with Handicap Index not exceeding 18.0 for men and not 26.0 for women. There is also a professional division in which either player may be the professional. LIGA and WGA titles will be awarded to teams where both players are members of LIGA clubs and both players are members of WGA clubs, respectively.
44th MGA/MetLife Men’s Four-Ball Championship
Two-man teams compete on a net better-ball basis, with each player competing at 90% of his Handicap Index. A player’s Handicap Index may not exceed 20.0, while the combined Handicap Index of the team may not exceed 36.0. Qualifying begins at the club level before several sectional qualifiers determine the final field. This year’s location and date are to be announced.
36th MGA/MetLife Women’s Four-Ball Championship
Two-woman teams compete on a net better-ball basis, with each player competing at 95% of her Handicap Index. A player’s Handicap Index may not exceed 28.0, while the combined Handicap Index of the team may not exceed 40.0. Qualifying begins at the club level before several sectional qualifiers determine the final field. This year’s location and date are to be announced.
