Barclays Extends Sponsorship & Announces Premier Met Area Course Rotation
The PGA Tour has announced that The Barclays, the first event in the FedEx Cup playoff series, has extended its contract in the Met Area through 2016. It was also announced that Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., site of the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Open, will be added to the rotation.
The Barclays will be conducted at the premier public facility in 2012 and 2016, and the event will return to Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J., in 2013, Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., in 2014; and Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., in 2015.
This lineup of outstanding Met Area clubs has hosted numerous MGA major championships, especially as of late, as three Met Opens (1989, 2001 and 2010) were conducted at Bethpage, the 2009 Met Open was held at Ridgewood and the 2012 Met Open will be played at Plainfield. The 2012 MGA/MetLife Public Links Championship will also be held at Bethpage.
