Wall co-medalist as MGA finishes 2nd in Williamson Cup
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (August 8, 2016) - Jack Wall of Brielle, N.J., carded two rounds of 1-over 72 at Bellevue Country Club on Monday to earn co-medalist honors and lead Team MGA to a second place finish in the 53rd Williamson Cup, a junior team competition between 11 different golf associations throughout the Northeast and Canada.

The Golf Association of Ontario earned the victory at 11-over 437 for the 36-hole competition, in which three out of four players' scores count toward the team total. Ontario's victory is their 12th all-time, breaking a tie with the MGA for the most in the history of the event.
Following the morning round of play, the MGA stood in third place with a score of 11-over 224, just one shot behind the Pennsylvania Golf Association and two shots off Ontario's leading pace. Wall's 72 led the MGA, while MGA/MetLife Boys champion Nathan Han of Somers, N.Y., had a 75 and recent Met Am match play qualifier William Rand of New York, N.Y., a 77 to count toward the team's total.
In the afternoon, Han, Rand and Matt Minerva of Elmsford, N.Y., all improved upon their morning scores to help Team MGA jump past Pennsylvania thanks to a 6-over 219 team performance. However, Ontario recorded the day's best 18-hole total, a 2-over 215, to claim the six-stroke victory. Wall was consistent with his second straight 72, while Han and Minerva carded 74s and Rand a 73.
The 54th Williamson Cup will be hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association, being contested at Pittsburgh Field Club.
