Kim takes two-stroke lead into the final round of the Ike
WEST ORANGE, N.J. (June 28, 2016) - Peter Kim of Royce Brook followed up his spectacular Monday round of 8-under 63 with a 1-under 70 on Tuesday morning and will take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the 61st MGA Ike Championship at Essex County Country Club.

Defending champion Cameron Young of Sleepy Hollow made the major jump during the second round of play, firing a 7-under 64 to earn a spot in the final tee time alongside Kim. The 19-year old carded a bogey on each side, but tallied seven birdies and an eagle-three on the par-5 eighth hole.
Kim, the reigning Met Amateur champion, played a steady round on Tuesday morning. The rising senior at Army West Point made three birdies to just two bogeys and ended his round with seven straight pars to maintain his lead.
Stewart Hagestad of Deepdale notched his second consecutive round of 3-under 68, putting himself well within striking distance at 6-under for the championship. Hagestad was the runner-up to Young last year at Friar's Head, his debut event in the Met Area.
Ryan Snouffer of Essex County carded an 1-under 70, and stands at 5-under.
Young's 64 was lowest second round score by three strokes, with Christian Cavaliere of Mahopac carding the next best at 4-under 67. Cavaliere stands at 2-under for the championship.
A total of 13 players are under par for the championship.
