Hoffmann Finishes T-28th

UPDATED (April 13, 2015) - It was an incredible week for Morgan Hoffmann at his first Masters, and he finished it in style Sunday at Augusta. After opening the tournament on Thursday with a 1-over 73, Hoffmann would not go over par again the rest of the week. On Friday he would fire an even par 72 and make the cut, something not many first time participants do at The Masters. This year 20 players were competing in their first Masters, and Hoffmann was one of only eight to make it to the weekend.

Like the rest of the field, Hoffmann couldn't really catch Jordan Spieth, but he certainly made some noise on the last two days of the season's first major. On Saturday he holed out from the fairway for a miraculous eagle on the par 4 third hole (Watch). He would make another eagle on the par 5 13th hole and finish with a round of even par 72. After a 1-over start through four holes on Sunday, Hoffmann would kick it into another gear and make four birdies and one bogey for a 2-under 70, which put him at 1-under total in a tie for 28th.

The 25-year-old experienced the week of a lifetime, and hopefully one he will get to experience many more times. "My first Masters, I mean, it was the coolest experience of my life," Hoffmann said in his final diary entry on masters.com. If he continues his solid play and finishes strong like he did in 2014, we should expect him back at Augusta next April.

A Dream Come True

UPDATED (April 10, 2015) - 2005 Carter Cup Champion Morgan Hoffmann accomplished a feat not many first time participants at Augusta National Golf Club can.  After rounds of 73 and 72, the Franklin Lakes, N.J. born 25-year-old will play the weekend at the Masters. While catching Jordan Spieth will be a tall task, Hoffmann hopes for another solid two days in his first appearance at the season's first major.

Hoffmann will tee off at 10:45 a.m. tomorrow morning alongside Jason Dufner.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (April 6, 2015) - Spring has finally arrived and with it comes the season's first major, The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club this week. This year, the Met Area will have a huge rooting interest thanks to Morgan Hoffmann of Franklin Lakes, N.J., who will be competing for the green jacket for the first time in his young career. The former Carter Cup Champion does have major championship experience, having played in three U.S. Opens and making the cut in 2012 at The Olympic Club.

Hoffmann has had a hot start to his 2015 campaign, already amassing over half a million dollars thanks to three top 25 finishes, including one top 10 after finishing in the top 10 just twice in all of 2014. His best finish came a few weeks ago on the final leg of the Florida swing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, where a solid four days of 15-under par earned him a finish in solo fourth and skyrocketed him into the top 80 of the FedEx Cup standings. The 25-year-old has not competed in a PGA TOUR event since Bay Hill, but that hasn't stopped him from working hard on his game to prepare for what he hopes is a life-changing week.

In order to qualify for The Masters, Hoffmann needed to make it to last year's Tour Championship in Atlanta, which he did thanks to an incredible final two rounds the week before at the BMW Championship. A 62 and 63 on the last two days of the third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs punched Hoffmann's ticket not only to East Lake, but to his first appearance at Augusta.

You can follow Morgan's first Masters right here at mgagolf.org, but also on masters.com, where he has agreed to conduct a video diary for his first throughout the week.
