Ken Whitney Elected President of The First Tee of Metropolitan New York
ELMSFORD, N.Y. (December 30, 2014) - At The First Tee of Metropolitan New York's (TFTMNY) Board of Directors meeting in New York City on December 17, Ken Whitney of Scarsdale, N.Y. was elected president of the organization. Whitney follows Philip Laskawy who has served as president since 2008.
Whitney, a member at Scarsdale and Hudson National Golf Clubs, is a Senior Advisor at The Blackstone Group and is also a Trustee of the national First Tee organization based in St. Augustine, FL. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York is a charitable youth development organization headquartered at Mosholu Golf Course in The Bronx, with facilities throughout the tri-state Metropolitan Area.
In 2015, more than 3,000 students will participate in TFTMNY's Life Skills and Core Values programs and another 15,000 young people will be engaged through outreach programs. The chapter, which is one of the largest in the country, was founded in 2001 by the Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation, The Met PGA and the Rudin family.
