Morgan Hoffmann to Turn Professional
May 18, 2011 – New Jersey native Morgan Hoffmann, one of the top collegiate players to ever come out of the Met Area, will be turning professional sometime after the NCAA Championship, which concludes on June 5. Hoffmann, a two-time All-American at Oklahoma State will forego his senior season to compete on the professional ranks.
The announcement, made by Oklahoma State head coach Mike McGraw, came on the heels of Hoffmann’s teammate Peter Uihlein winning the Hogan Award for the country’s top collegiate golfer. Former teammate Rickie Fowler turned professional following the 2009 Walker Cup and has become a headliner on the PGA Tour.
Hoffmann, 21, attended Ramapo High School before moving to Florida to attend the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy for his last two years of high school. He enrolled at Oklahoma State in the fall of 2008 and went on to become the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and played on the victorious 2009 Walker Cup team at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
