As the sun set on qualifying as Saint George’s the leaderboard would be tight as there would only be a five-shot difference between the top and final qualifiers. Leading the way was Jonathan Farber of Mill River Club along with Chris Kuber of USGA/MGA GC and Chris Arnold of St. Georges G & CC who would all shoot a 2-under 68.

Some notable names moving on to match play are Darin Goldstein of Deepdale. Goldstein won this event in 2017 and finished second at the Long Island Mid-Amateur twice. Finishing in fourth place in qualifying is Ben Mitchell of Fresh Meadow. Mitchell recently finished second at the 100th Long Island Open Championship.

Also qualifying in fourth was 18-year-old Michael McConie who is coming of finishing ninth at the Ike MGA Championship and a win just last week at Bethpage Black after shooting back-to-back rounds under par.

Rounding out the qualifying spots were 11 golfers who finished at 3-over par.

Match play begins at 7:30 am tomorrow.
