Moffat & Bakst, Lead qualifiers to U.S. Senior Amateur
WAYNE, N.J. (July 8, 2024) -- At North Jersey Country Club, Mike Moffat from Harsham, Pennsylvania, secured the top spot by shooting even par, leading the qualifiers for the 69th U.S. Senior Amateur. The other qualifiers achieved scores of 3-over 71 or better, earning their places in the championship scheduled for August 24-29 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

Moffat exhibited a consistent performance at North Jersey Country Club. He utilized birdies throughout the round to counterbalance a handful of bogeys, ultimately emerging as the sole competitor to finish even with par.
Kenneth Bakst of West Palm Beach, Florida, trailed closely behind, finishing 1-over par. His steady mix of birdies and bogeys on the back nine resulted in an impressive score on challenging terrain.
Rounding out the list of qualifiers were Harris Podvey of West Caldwell, New Jersey, and Jim Craffey of Allendale, New Jersey. The duo carded a 3-over par 71 and advanced after a playoff to secure their positions at The Honors Course. Podvey’s consistent play was marked by a series of bogeys. Craffey started the round with an eagle, followed by two birdies and a bogey.
Roger Hoit of Delray Beach, Florida is the first alternate after falling first in a playoff. Sean Houlihan of New Rochelle, New York is the second alternate.
Overall, it was an impressive display of skill from all the participants.
