Estrella Claims Girls, Wang wins both Boys and Junior Championship

Smithtown, NY (June 19, 2024) - With temperatures nearing 90 degrees at Smithtown Landing Golf Course, Jiajun Wang of Old Westbury, N.Y. kept cool down the stretch to secure a one-stroke win in the 103rd Long Island Junior Championship along with the Long Island Boys Championship. Ava Estrella of Brookville, New York would win the Long Island Girls Championship.

Jiajun Wang was victorious today in both the Junior and Boys Championship with the low score of the day, a 3-under 69. Wang started off the day with a birdie on the 2nd hole. He carded an additional three birdies and one bogey enroute the victory. Finishing just one shot back with the only other round under par was Leon Bui of the Bronx, New York with a 2-under 70 in both the Junior and Boys Championship.

Ava Estrella of Old Westbury Golf and Country Club secured her title as Long Island Girls champion for the third straight year. The 15-year-old shot 9-over 81 to secure the one-shot victory over Claire Luce of Jupiter, Florida.
