Moriarty, Parsells Victorious in Mixed Pinehurst
WATCHUNG, N.J. (October 9, 2023) – After being rescheduled from July, Monday’s 59th MGA/WMGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship featured competitors from across the Met Area battling for the title at Watchung Valley Golf Club.
Bobby Moriarty and Christina Parsells of Baltusrol and Somerset Hills, respectively, led the way after carding a round of 3-under 69. Kate Granahan and Todd Wiggins of Upper Montclair finished runner-up, shooting 1-under 71.

After making bogey on the first hole, Moriarty and Parsells bounced back with a birdie on the par-4 second. The duo finished the rest of the day off strong, adding no more bogeys while recording three birdies on the back nine.
Johnathan Granville and Amanda Alcamo of Cherry Valley Club captured the LIGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship, shooting 3-over 75 to lead those representing Long Island.
Both Moriarty and Parsells and the duo of Edward and Lynn Walsh of Trump National - Bedminster carded net scores of 5-under 67, with the Net Division title going to the Walshes. Their round was highlighted by a pair of net eagles and three more net birdies.
Desiree and Robert Smock of Silver Spring claimed the WGA Mixed Pinehurst Championship, leading those from the nine-county area of the Westchester Golf Association with an 11-over 83.
Thomas Barbaro and Alix Lowe of Garden City Country Club won the Professional Division, carding a 2-over 74.
