Tony & James Allen Take Home 72nd MGA Father & Son Championship

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (June 9, 2022) -- Tony Allen and James Allen of Scarsdale were victorious at the 72nd MGA Father & Son Championship following the conclusion of a three-team playoff at Richmond County Country Club. The Allens carded a 1-under 71, matching the scores of Brian and William Celiberti of Arcola and Michael and Mike Paduano of Eagle Oaks to force a playoff.  It didn’t take long, however, as the Scarsdale natives took home the victory, winning the first playoff hole.

The Allens didn’t find themselves in championship contention until the last three holes of the round, managing to go 3-under in that stretch. The Celiberti duo had sole possession of first place until both the Allens and the Paduanos notched eagles on the 18th hole to move their scores to 1-under for the round.

Collin Smith and Daniel Smith of McCann Golf Course were winners in the Net division, shooting a 4-under 68, two strokes lower than the Paduano’s who finished 2-under in the Net division.

Michael Summa and Joe Summa of The Stanwich Club finished first in the Professional Division after going even through the front 9, finishing with a 2-over 74.
